GRACE Public School System
GRACE Public School & College in Skardu GB is quintessential of inclusive and dynamic learning environment for vulnerable children and adolescents. The school has its own building with essential teaching and learning equipment and other facilities; pedagogically trained and highly dedicated teachers, administrative staff and very cooperative school governing board and the community. All these stakeholders provide students with a stimulating child and girl friendly learning and personality building environment. School fee starts from Rs.500/- to 1500 is highly affordable for the communities.
Realizing the optimum use of resources, GRACE utilizes School building space for 24 hours. In the morning, it serves as a regular school to over 500 students including 50% girls and 05% children with disabilities followed by running youth skills development programs such as the GRACE English Access Program and GRACE English Works Program. During weekends, the building becomes community center for conducting community service events.
The first GRACE school building was constructed in collaboration with the Himalayan Green Club Japan with a financial grant from /the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Japan in 2009. An elementary school building was constructed through this collaboration and later on GRACE Association constructed additional classrooms, science and computer labs through local resource mobilization. A library hall constructed with a donation of Dr. Muhammad Taufique a Pakistani Dentist and philanthropist in 2016.
GRACE School serves children particularly girls and children with disabilities from conflict affected displaced populations, settled in Astana and its surroundings after the India-Pakistan Wars of 1965, 1971 and 1999. The school contributes to the social cohesion between the displaced and native communities.
GRACE School serves as the first inclusive school for all children including girls and children with disabilities from the economically disadvantaged and locally displaced families living in Brolmo Colony, Gultary Colony, Astana Bala, Astana Paeen and may surrounding rural villages in Skardu.
