GRACE ENGLISH ACCESS PROGRAM GILGIT-BALTISTAN

  • This is one of the most effective programs of GRACE Association Pakistan and directly targets girls and boys adolescents in the age bracket of 13 – 20 years of age from the economically most disadvantaged and vulnerable communities. English Acces Microscholarship Program provides opportunities to students from marginalized communities to develop their English language proficiency and enhance their ability to explore wider career options. The program was initiated in 2010 and as of today has produced 1800 graduates who have demonstrated strength to challenge poverty and related issues inter alia; lack of economic opportunities lack of access to quality education, poor access to job markets etc. Participants of this program become empowered national and global citizens by acquiring knowledge, skills and attitudes regarding democracy, human rights, liberty, pluralism, and community services. For which program incorporates various enhancement activities such as community service projects, class representatives’ elections, newsletter development, readers’ clubs, integration of ICT, event organization, local, national and even international exposure tours and many more. These activities developed students’ confidence and communicative skills through participation in meaningful learning experiences. These activities empower them with the knowledge and skills they need to move forward as a responsible global citizen.GRACE Association Pakistan provides this program in Gilgit-Baltistan in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy, Islamabad. The first cohort of Access Program at GRACE Public School Skardu started for 80 male and female bright students from underserved families. On successful completion of the first two years 2010-2012, GRACE Access Program expanded to more districts such as district Khaplu Gancheh and Gilgit during the following years and provided the Access Program Microsholarships to over 2000 students in Gilgit-Baltistan.GRACE Association has been running the Access Program for many years and successfully completed four (4) cohorts up to January 31, 2019. The next program cohort proposal is under review and hopefully may start from 2021 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
