GRACE Association Pakistan established the GRACE Public School on continuous requests from the communities in Skardu in February, 2007 in an old rented building. To run the school GRACE Association and the communities needed educational resources and some were beyond capacity of the communities and organization. Therefore GRACE Association requested the Embassy of Federal Republic Germany Islamabad for Provision of some basic educational equipments and furniture for Grace Public School Astana Skardu under the Embassy’s Micro Project Scheme.
The honourable Ambassador of Germany to Pakistan Dr. Gunter Mulack personally visited GRACE Public school and observed the educational needs of the school children and promote education in the area. He approved GRACE Association project and provided a set of computer for office, some Audio Video Aids like a TV, Digital Camera, Charts CDs and Game materials and white boards and some basic furniture for students and teachers worth PKR387100.00 (U$4839). The Ambassador again visited the school on completion of the project and highly appreciated GRACE Association’s efforts to promote education for children of the grassroots communities particularly the displaced families of Kargil, Gultary and Brolmo areas. He assured further support for GRACE Association.
The project helped improve quality of teaching and learning in the school. Presently there are more than 100 students, 50% females and 15% of them are children with disabilities
GRACE endeavours to empower and improve the quality of life of the marginalized and vulnerable communities in the least developed parts of Pakistan through welfare, participatory research and development, capacity building, promotion of best practices and partnership building, advocacy, and by launching sustainable and replicable innovative projects.
